On the 8th June 2013 John Lowery passed away peacefully in hospital aged 76 years.

My memories of John go back to the late 1960’s when I was playing for Ryhope YC in the Seaham & District League. He was the League Secretary and I’m sure he watched our games a lot more than any other team. At the end of the 1968/69 and 1969/70 seasons Interleague games were played and John selected me and made me captain. I was very honoured. Thanks John.

A good friend and a gentleman.
